Press Release: Process control monitors torque overloads and provides alarms, shut off, Bluetooth alerts, data collection, and predictive analysis

ORLEANS, MASSACHUSETTS - Hersey Clutch Company has just released its patent pending process control clutch monitor for all power transmission applications where immediate knowledge of overload conditions is necessary especially unmanned applications. The unit offers the customer many alarm options as well as Bluetooth alerts. In addition, data collection and time stamped feedback provide performance measurement allowing data driven corrective action to optimize the process and create predictive analysis for preventative maintenance increasing operation uptime.

Richard K. Hersey, President of Hersey Clutch Company, expressed his excitement for the new control customers can achieve by outlining the following product information.

We provide complete motion control protection through assured, mechanical torque limiting. To complete the control loop, we have developed a PLC with a microprocessor to monitor the drive train and optimize the entire process with data collection & predictive analytics eliminating downtime and increasing productivity.

Through the use of optical and “hall effect” magnetic sensors mounted on the clutch, our system monitors the performance of the power transmission. At the moment an overload occurs, one or more alarms are triggered to alert the user of the condition. The user is provided with a complete selection of alarm signals to suit the application best. From a high dBA piezo buzzer, LED lights, or current loop circuit to shut off the process to USB connectivity direct to the user’s PC as well as a Bluetooth radio signal to your smartphone, we offer complete flexibility to each situation whether manned or unmanned.

Using the resident memory with output through the USB port to a PC, the user can manage and analyze important process events with time stamps to chart the performance and optimize operation up-time as well as develop lifecycle data to accurately predict requirements for preventative maintenance.

Our goal is complete control. The monitoring system is flexible and can be enhanced and expanded by adding additional modules and measurement tools from proximity sensors to torque strain gages allowing complete understanding and control of your system and process.
